The human being is made up of various organs that are classified into systems. Each system has specific tasks and interacts with others to ensure the proper functioning of the body. The locomotor apparatus consists of:

  • Joints
  • Ligaments
  • Muscles
  • Tendons
  • Cartilages.

The nervous system ensures that everything works correctly by sending commands to the movement organs. In this way, the bony and muscular systems allow the movements and functional autonomy of the human being.

We exist because we move

Many think that to stay alive the most important things are water and food. This statement is true: without food or water, we would be destined for certain death. Since prehistoric times, man has had to move to ensure survival. Without a good functioning of the locomotor apparatus, the human being could not have performed the necessary gestures to satisfy his primary needs.

Working, studying, moving, are all operations of daily life that cause wear on the musculoskeletal system. Often, when we perform these actions, we do not realize the involvement of this system. We must understand that we are beings “in movement” and that only through movement can we obtain the necessary tools to live.

The good news is that physiotherapy allows us to correct these problems. Obviously, the best thing is to prevent them. However, there are situations that cannot be avoided. However, with a little care, it is possible to reduce the negative impact.

There are simple alternatives that you can use in everyday life:

  • Replace the chair you use in the office with a pilates ball. This solution mainly concerns those employees who spend most of the day sitting in the office. Perhaps it will seem strange to use a pilates ball to sit on, yet it is very useful.

The human body is not designed to sit all day. Sitting for a long time can cause damage to joints and muscles. The main cause lies in the bad posture we take when we sit and in the time we spend in that position.

Using a pilates ball, to maintain balance, you will be forced to make movements from time to time. These movements will allow you to improve circulation, align the spine and avoid taking an incorrect position for a long time.

  • Stretch daily: to keep the musculoskeletal system in good condition, it is useful to do stretching or yoga or pilates. Stretching improves blood flow, oxygenates the muscles and strengthens joints and ligaments.

  • Resting the necessary: if your daily routine is very demanding for the body, to avoid muscle pain, it is very important to rest the necessary time.
